Der Band widmet sich der Geschichte der Evangelisch-Theologischen Fakultät der Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz ab ihrer Gründung im Jahr 1946 und schließt damit eine Forschungslücke im Bereich universitärer Fakultätsgeschichtsschreibung. Die Beiträge verbinden institutionen-, ideen- und personengeschichtliche Perspektiven. Thematisiert werden unter anderem die Entwicklung fachlicher Schwerpunkte sowie biografische Studien zu wichtigen Forschungspersönlichkeiten. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit gilt der Gründungsphase der Fakultät (bis 1962), der Rolle von Frauen in Studium und Lehre sowie den innerfakultären Dynamiken in gesellschaftlich herausfordernden Zeiten. This volume is dedicated to the history of the Faculty of Protestant Theology in Mainz since its founding in 1946 and thus closes a research gap in the field of university faculty historiography. The contributions combine perspectives on the history of institutions, ideas and individuals. Among other things, the development of subject specializations and biographical studies of important research figures are discussed. Particular attention is paid to the founding phase of the faculty (until 1962), the role of women in studies and teaching as well as the intra-faculty dynamics in socially challenging times.
